Getting Rounds
Rounds is getting ready for the App Store. It will be available for iPhone and iPad.
See what’s comingYour first round
- Create a place and a round, then add checkpoints in the order you walk.
- Open the round’s print options. Share the QR labels as a PDF or send them to an AirPrint printer.
- Put each label at its checkpoint. Open Scan inside Rounds, scan the label, and tap OK when everything looks good.
Common questions
Do I scan with the iPhone Camera app?
Use Scan inside Rounds. The codes identify checkpoints in the app; they are not website links. Allow camera access when prompted.
What if a label won’t scan?
Check the lighting, clean the camera lens, and keep the whole code in view. You can also open the checkpoint from its round. If a label is damaged, reprint it from Rounds. Replacing a checkpoint’s code makes the old code stop working.
Can I use Rounds without an internet connection?
Yes. Your core rounds, checks, and history work on the device offline. Apple services such as purchases and iCloud sync need a connection. Make sure the round is already available on your device before heading somewhere without a signal.
What’s free, and what needs Pro?
Free includes one round with up to five checkpoints, unlimited checks, basic labels, and the ten latest history entries per checkpoint. Pro adds unlimited rounds and checkpoints, full history, new issue reports with notes and photos, more print formats, widgets, and invitations to your places.
How much does Pro cost?
US reference prices are $2.99 per month, $29.99 per year, or $59.99 for a one-time lifetime purchase. Monthly and yearly plans renew automatically until canceled. Prices vary by region; the Rounds Pro screen shows your current local price and Apple confirms the price and terms before purchase. Lifetime does not renew.
How do I restore a purchase?
Use Restore Purchases on the Rounds Pro screen while signed in to the Apple Account used for the purchase. If you still cannot access Pro, include the app version and what you see when you contact support. Please do not send passwords or payment card details.
How do I cancel a subscription?
On your iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions and Rounds. Apple manages billing and cancellation. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. A lifetime purchase is not a subscription.

What happens when Pro ends?
Your existing rounds and checks are not deleted. You can keep checking them and resolve existing issues. Creating beyond the free limits, new issue reports in your own places, full history, premium print formats, and widgets require Pro. Existing iCloud invitations are not automatically revoked when a subscription ends; the owner manages access separately.
How do I delete my data?
Deleting a round removes its associated checks, issues, checkpoints, and runs from the app’s store. Deleting an individual checkpoint can leave its checks in round history. Removing the app does not necessarily remove iCloud copies, backups, shared copies, or files you exported. See the privacy policy for details.
Sharing a place
How do I invite someone?
Open a round, then Share place. The owner needs Pro and iCloud. Invite specific people using Apple’s sharing sheet. An invitation covers the whole place: all its rounds, checkpoints, checks, issues, notes, and photos. Invite only people you trust with that information.
Does everyone need Pro?
No. Invited participants can work in the shared place without buying Pro. An invitation does not unlock Pro for their own rounds, premium print formats, or widgets. Apple allows up to 100 participants per place share. Rounds does not impose an owner-wide seat limit. Sharing a place is different from Apple Family Sharing of a purchase.
Who can change a shared place?
The Rounds UI reserves place, round, and checkpoint setup for the owner. Participants with write permission can record checks and issues; read-only participants can view them. CloudKit write access applies to the records in the share, so a determined participant could change shared data outside the Rounds UI. Treat this as a trusted collaboration space, not a tamper-proof audit system. Names on checks are chosen by the person, not verified identities.
How do I remove access or leave?
Open Share place to manage the invitation. Owners can remove participants or stop sharing; participants can leave. Access changes need an internet connection. They cannot erase screenshots, exports, or copies someone has already made. A QR label alone does not grant access to a place.
iCloud & offline use
How does iCloud sync work?
Checks save to the app’s database on your device first. In an iCloud-enabled build, Apple syncs your own places through your private CloudKit database to devices using the same iCloud account. Invited places use CloudKit’s shared database. Rounds has no separate account or data server. Your iCloud account for data can be different from the Apple Account you use for purchases.
When will changes appear?
Sync happens in the background when Apple services, your account, storage, and connection allow it. It is not instant and is not a separate backup. Open Rounds online before a walk and check that the expected places are present. Offline edits wait to sync; deletions also sync, and simultaneous changes can be merged.
What if iCloud is unavailable?
Existing local rounds still work offline. Check that you are signed into iCloud, have space available, and allow iCloud for Rounds in device Settings. Invitations need iCloud and a connection. Local development builds store data only on that device. Do not delete the app to fix sync: unsynced checks could be lost.
